Colorado Fun Guide had the opportunity to interview one of Old Colorado City’s most well-known purveyors of fine art and gifts. Sharon Wolff, of Hunter-Wolff Gallery, a well-respected businesswoman who has earned a stellar reputation since the opening of her art gallery 20 years ago.
Wolff moved to Colorado from the East Coast where she had fulfilled a business career in corporate America for 30+ years. Tiring of the daily grind, with a son at the Air Force Academy and a daughter in Telluride, a move to Colorado seemed the logical choice. And within a short while, Wolff decided to open her art gallery in Old Colorado City.
Then one day in 2005, she found a “charming little place” in Old Colorado City and opened Hunter-Wolff Gallery. Her small-space footprint grew to a larger location at 2510 W. Colorado Ave., and remains there today.
Inside, her gallery is filled with exquisite art from over 40 artists, in various media types— oil, watercolor, pastel paintings, metal art, pottery, ceramics, blown glass, woodturning and wearable art jewelry—all with different price points. Wolff has created a sophisticated, yet warm and welcoming atmosphere for customers to take their time to appreciate the artistic effort she has brought to her gallery.
Says Wolff, “I just wanted to bring something special to Colorado Springs.”
And she has.
